Celebrities are free from many of the everyday struggles of the average person, but they certainly are not immune to bad fashion. From the red carpet to private moments filmed by paparazzi, many of the most famous have been caught wearing less than flattering clothes. Yet, through it all celebrities are still considered icons of fashion. So how can they do it?
They’re famous, of course
When you’re famous — and rich — you can get away with just about anything. As a layperson, you can snicker at what Actor X was wearing at an awards show, but you’ll still go see his next blockbuster. Now if celebrities started dressing horribly on-screen, then there might be a backlash.
They have great bodies
Some dresses seen on the red carpet resemble pieces of string rather gowns because of all the skin they show. While most people wouldn’t be caught dead wearing a such revealing fashion that exposes so much, celebrities generally take care of their bodies and have the figures that are okay to show off.
Sense of humor
Remember when Trey Parker and Matt Stone, creators of “South Park”, wore dresses to the Academy Awards? It didn’t garner them any fashion awards, but it did what it was meant to accomplish: make people laugh. Celebrities will wear many things, from goofy disguises to silly hats, just for the fun factor.
Need for attention
Staying in the spotlight takes much more than being a great actor or exceptional musician. It demands being the constant center of attention, something bad fashion is great at.
