Your Children and Computers

Parents have differing opinions when it comes to introducing their children to computers. Many children know what a computer is at a young age. Unlike their parents, your children have had computer in their lives since they were born. They know that the computer does things that interest you and therefore they are interested in what the computer does themselves.

Later when children are able to grasp what computers can do they are even more interested in learning everything about computers. However, if you are not careful you children can get into trouble using the computer and websites. You need to make sure that while you are letting your child use the computer you are monitoring what they are doing while on the computer.

If you introduce your child to the computer at a young age you might be able to take away a little bit of the magic away from the computer. Make sure that the time that your child is using the computer is limited and that it is always supervised. Speak with your child about entering sites that are bad and never giving any information away on the internet.

In many ways it is irresponsible not to teach your child how to use the computer, but you can limit their access to the computer. Children should know how to use the basics of the computer like how to upload and download, send and receive information, but if your child is young, there is no reason for them to have a website.
